Whether new to Foresight and Linux or a long-time Linux enthusiast, every user can benefit from Foresight's support resources. Check out the following sections to find ways you can learn more and ask for help when you need it.
Documentation
See the Documentation page on this site for more information about this support resource.
Real-time Help on IRC
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) provides a real-time text-based interaction with others. Freenode hosts many free IRC channels such as those used by Foresight users and developers. For those currently using Foresight, the Internet applications on the desktop include IRC client software, such as Xchat-GNOME in the GNOME edition. Join the channel #foresight after connecting to Freenode (irc.freenode.net). Current and potential Foresight users of all skill levels are invited to this channel to ask questions and exchange helpful tips. Patience is encouraged as users should note that availability of other users is unpredictable, and usually someone will respond to questions with answers or tips on where to get more information.
Email
Joining and sending an email to the Foresight mailing list is the recommended way to ask a specific question or describe an issue, especially if you cannot find the answer on the Foresight Wiki or cannot conveniently use IRC. The mailing list has both users and developers who are willing to assist fellow users. Also, unlike IRC, the mailing list provides a permanent record of interaction with the option to search past conversations. To join the Foresight mailing list, click here.
Foresight Issue Tracker
Foresight uses Atlassian's JIRA software to file, track, and manage work on issues such as bugs and feature requests. Users who encounter apparent bugs are asked to file an issue in Foresight's JIRA-powered issue tracking system. Developers can then field the issue and make any fixes that are required. Also use JIRA to file feature requests, such as particular software you would like to see packaged for use in Foresight. Access Foresight's issue tracking at issues.foresightlinux.org, and reference this Foresight Wiki page for information on how to register as a user and file and track issues in JIRA.
